A Full-Circle Moment at the U.S. Naval Academy

As a military retirement photographer, I have the honor of documenting the moments that matter most- those filled with tradition and emotion. Captain MacKenzie’s recent military retirement ceremony was one of these moments

I had the pleasure of meeting this family while we lived in Naples, Italy. We became fast friends as our kids played together daily and attended the same Italian school. Over the years, our path took us to Japan and then to Boston, but it has been a gift to live near each other again in Alexandria, VA.

This gorgeous and very special event took place at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD. Captain MacKenzie’s military career began at the United States Naval Academy, so it seemed only fitting that he would hold his retirement ceremony here too.

Retirement ceremonies at USNA are a blend of tradition, honor, and emotion. My goal is to ensure that the memories of the retirement ceremony are celebrated and cherished for years to come. From the reading of Old Glory to the singing of the National Anthem, this Navy retirement ceremony was filled with powerful military traditions that moved the entire audience!

It truly was a pleasure photographing such moments throughout Captain MacKenzie’s military retirement ceremony. I know that they will treasure these images for generations to come.
