I love how the Navy makes our world feel so small, bringing friends back together even after years apart. Moving to the East Coast has given us the chance to reconnect with the old friends and create new memories. But what I cherish most is that our kids get to see these bonds in action. When we say, “it’s not goodbye, it’s see you later,” it really does come true….
I had the incredible honor of capturing CDR Thanh Nguyen’s military retirement ceremony- a session made even more special because they are such dear friends. It was a perfect way to reconnect and I was so touched to be asked to photograph this milestone.
Photographing Navy retirement ceremonies always gives me all the feels. Every military ceremony is different and every branch does it a little differently. But each ceremony is filled with long-standing traditions and urges us to stop and reflect on the importance and significance of the occasion.
