Ava was so excited about her session at the Lincoln Memorial to celebrate her graduation from The George Washington University As a Washington D.C. senior photographer, I love taking photos at iconic spots loaded with history. The marble columns, the famous steps, and the views of the Washington Monument off of the Reflecting Pool made for some great photo opportunities. This was such a perfect spot to begin our session. Whether you’re graduating from a Washington D.C. university or traveling in to explore everything that D.C. has to offer, a photo shoot at the Lincoln Memorial is a must!
To make the session even more special, we finished in downtown D.C. at the Corcoran School of the Arts and Design building, where Ava spent most of her college experience. Photographing seniors at their school buildings adds the perfect personal touch to graduation portraits. These aren’t just pretty backdrops, they’re representative of years’ worth of hard work, memories, and building friendships!
As a photographer, I love getting to know my clients on a personal level. I was thrilled to tell Ava’s story by incorporating locations that are deeply meaningful to her. As an added bonus, her parents were in town to celebrate her graduation and were able to join us for her senior session!
Ava chose a white dress and cowboy boots for her session, which made for the perfect combination of classic with a touch of personality. I always tell my seniors that the best outfits are the ones that feel the most authentic and make them feel the most confident. Senior photos should feel a little elevated, but they should also reflect who you are in this season of life.
She also brought her cap, gown, and cords along, which we incorporated throughout the session!
