There is something incredibly special about photographing high school seniors on the cusp of a new adventure. They are full of possibility, energy and a touch of nostalgia. Julia’s recent high school senior session in Old Town Alexandria was exactly that! A perfect blend of joy, beauty and anticipation.
I met Julia near the waterfront just after sunrise, where the light kissed the cobblestone streets and sailboats danced on the Potomac. She arrived with a relaxed confidence and the kind of glowing smiles that made every photo feel effortless. From the quiet charm of the alleys to the vibrant waterfront views, each backdrop mirrored her personality: bright, thoughtful, and ready for the next step.
What struck me the most during her high school senior session was her sense of calm excitement. It seems that she has found this balance between gratitude for where she has been and hopeful for what’s ahead. Julia carried that feeling throughout the afternoon, making the experience not just a senior photo session, but a celebration.
As we were walking through Old Town, she stopped in her tracks and pointed to the restaurant where her parents had their first date, Landini Brothers Restaurant. Of course, I had to take a quick picture as a full circle moment.
